1. Easy to ensure positional accuracy of machined surfaces
a. Easy to meet coaxiality requirements
When the workpiece is mounted in a chuck, the axis of rotation is the axis of the lathe spindle.
When the workpiece is mounted between centers, the axis of rotation is the line connecting the centers.
b. Easy to meet perpendicularity requirements between the end face and the axis
This is ensured by the perpendicularity of the cross-slide guideways relative to the workpiece's axis of rotation.


2. The cutting process is relatively smooth, avoiding inertial and impact forces; this allows for higher cutting parameters and high-speed cutting, thereby boosting productivity.


3. Suitable for the precision machining of non-ferrous metal parts
Grinding is often unsuitable for non-ferrous metal parts requiring low surface roughness (low Ra values); turning or milling is preferred instead. High-quality finishes can be achieved through precision turning using diamond tools.
