(1) Before starting work, lubricate the machine according to regulations, check that all control levers are properly positioned, and run the machine at low speed for five minutes to ensure everything is functioning correctly before proceeding with operations.
(2) Ensure the chuck or collet is securely tightened; never leave the chuck key in the chuck or collet when starting the machine.
(3) Securely clamp the workpiece and cutting tool; avoid excessive tool overhang (except when boring). Stop the machine before rotating the compound rest to prevent the tool from colliding with the chuck or workpiece, or injuring your hands.
(4) Do not stand directly in front of the rotating workpiece; do not lean your body against the lathe or step on the oil pan.
(5) Use chip breakers and protective shields during high-speed cutting.
(6) Do not use reverse braking at high speeds; perform retraction and stopping smoothly.
(7) Use a brush or a special hook to clear away metal chips.
(8) When finishing a workpiece with a file, keep your right hand in front and your left hand behind; when using abrasive cloth, use a tool (such as a holding pad) to prevent entanglement injuries.
(9) Keep all tools, measuring instruments, and cutters in a safe, nearby location, arranged neatly and in an orderly manner.
(10) Do not remove or measure the workpiece while the lathe is still in motion.
(11) Do not open or remove safety guards while the lathe is operating.
(12) Before the end of the shift, clean and wipe down the lathe, and move the tailstock and carriage to the far right end of the lathe bed.
